First-call milestone
On 28 September 2026, the 5G Private network supplied by Viettel High Tech at the factory of Toshiba Industrial Products Asia Co., Ltd. (TIPA) successfully made its first call and delivered data, voice and SMS services. The result shows that the system meets connectivity and operational requirements after integration.
This is one of the first 5G Private systems Viettel High Tech has deployed in a factory, providing a wireless connectivity foundation for industrial devices and applications.
System scale and design
The 5G Private system at TIPA consists of 2 radio sites with 6 cells, serving 3 production areas and able to support up to 1,000 terminal devices. The solution is designed with redundancy to ensure high availability and continuous connectivity in an industrial production environment.
Measurement results
During deployment, engineers from Viettel High Tech and TIPA jointly tested connectivity on a range of devices, including tablets, phones, terminal devices and cameras, in different areas of the factory.
- Stable download speeds of 500–800 Mbps.
- Latency of no more than 15 ms.
- 87% of measured samples exceeded 200 Mbps.
- 100% of measurement points had a signal level above -90 dBm.
Use in production
A notable application of the project is connecting automated guided vehicles (AGVs) in the production area through the customer's terminal devices. The 5G Private network in the factory provides the connectivity foundation for devices, industrial applications and automation solutions going forward.
Customer feedback
TIPA's leadership spoke highly of the 5G Private solution developed by Viettel High Tech, particularly the ability to deploy and integrate the system in a short time. Based on the initial results, TIPA plans to include the 5G Private deployment in its group-level report, with a view to studying a wider rollout across TIPA's member units and partners.
Next steps
After the system deployment was completed on 29 September 2026, the two parties continue to monitor and assess stability and to test services with CPE devices prepared by TIPA, aiming for project acceptance on 31 October 2026. Viettel High Tech and TIPA are also studying options to extend 5G Private coverage across the entire factory.
